Another Trip to KKH

The poor little guy is sick again. Just as I thought he has finally recovered from his almost 2 month-long sniffling episode, he seemed to have caught stomach flu. Yesterday, he didn’t manage to hold in any of his food and he had a bit of diarrhoea. In the evening, we decided to bring him to the a&e at KKH after he threw up his dinner and milk. Even then, he didn’t have a fever but he’s definitely showing signs of dehydration.

I guess many parents were in the same situation as us. The a&e was packed when we got there. In fact, it was getting increasing crowded. We arrived at 8pm, by the time we saw the doctor, it was almost 11pm. Calvin was given medication to stop the vomiting and we were asked to give him small amounts of glucose water every 15 mins for one hour and observe if he continues to vomit.  He seemed ok, though tired so we were told to go home and give him more glucose water to hydrate him. He really doesn’t like the taste though so I’ve been having trouble getting him to drink it all of today.

He’s still pretty weak today, spending most of the day asleep which is understandable since he slept only at 12:30am last night. He still has diarrhea though and his appetite is not good. His lethargy is making me worried. It’s really tough to be parents when you have to watch your kids suffer so. One of the biggest reasons why I don’t mind being a stay-at-home-mom is that I can take better care of him and he will hopefully not fall sick as much. It’s pretty bad when he’s feeling all weak and in pain but he can’t even tell us about it. I try to give in to him and carry him around more but honestly, I’m just pretty weak physically. Having to go with little sleep is also threatening to put me down with some illness as well though I’m consciously putting in the effort to maintain my health.
