We’ve been trying to cut back on the praises we heap on the little guy but inevitably, I still catch myself doling out general praises almost subconsciously. You know, the dreaded “good job”, “good boy” or “nice work”. We’ve been working on praising him more specifically on his efforts when he tries hard on learning something difficult, but I think we (or at least I) can’t help but celebrate the little victories when he manages, with a little whoop of delight peppered with a joyful ” you did it!”.

So that’s kinda like our parenting project, to cut back on the general praise and stop saying good job, clever boy to him and focus on what he actually did and skills that he mastered. That and more intensive chinese “lessons” for him…….
